Chiller Consumes more Energy in order to Compensate for Scale Fouling of its Condenser
- Chiller’s compressor’s works harder in order to compensate for the loss of Heat transfer efficiency caused by scale and fouling in the condenser tubes.
- Because it works harder, the compressor consumes more energy.
- Philip Kotz found that a scale layer of 0.3 mm thick on condenser’s tube surface causes 10% increase of energy consumption of the chillier power.
